This will depend on which model you require and the exact configuration. An automatic Vickers hardness tester will be at the higher end of the price range, whereas a manual Vickers hardness tester will be cheaper. Micro Vickers hardness testers will cover forces up to 1 kgf. Macro Vickers hardness testers will cover forces above 1 kgf. Our machines have the capability of doing both.

A manual Vickers hardness tester will generally have an eyepiece for measurement and any movement of the XY stage will be done manually. An automatic machine will automatically measure the indent via a camera and software and will have an automatic, motorised XY stage. There are also options in between that have differing levels of automation (semi-automatic).

This will depend on your application but if you need to place indents in precise locations or create multiple indents, it greatly improves your workflow and speed. It works particularly well in combination with a motorised XY stage.

If you are creating multiple indents on a sample and want to save time and increase accuracy, a motorised XY stage is highly recommended. A motorised XY stage is also invaluable when testing multiple samples.

Yes. All machines perform in accordance with and can be calibrated to the relevant standards for ISO/ASTM. These would include ISO 6507, ASTM E92 & E384.
